A gripping read which made my jaw drop. I don't want to say too much, but the villian is a villian of the worst possible kind.
The other characters - James and Elle - create such emotion and empathy that I could not look away, despite how much I wanted to.
Casey Rae, the woman, the mumma bear and the storyteller, has written a captivating account of a tragedy that is continuing to unfold. James and Elle, the story, which is smattered with very real and raw accounts of real life, I could not put this down. I found many moments of real emotion and the reminder that love and relationships are multifaceted and often times a reminder for us to challenge our shadows. To lay down the past and to move forward in wonder and awe of the possibilities.
A superbly written autofiction novel, that takes you on a forever evolving emotional roller coaster. The rhythm and altering pace allows the reader space to immerse in the depths of the trauma, the adrenaline fuelled highs and gratitude for the resilience of the human spirit.
It leaves you holding your breath for a moment and taking a long exhale hoping that these very real and beautifully raw characters will go on to live their best life.
A great read. From someone that barely picks up a book I had it read in 4 days. Was thoughtful in it's presentation. Some heavy content that was presented with warmth and genuine love and care. This author has a BIG heart.
